Móveis Movêu 3D Configurators
2021 - Ongoing
Movêu is a Brazilian furniture startup on a mission to revolutionize the way Brazilians buy furniture, making true customization accessible and affordable for everyone, at a time when the market is practically 100% based on one-size-fits-all solutions. Since 2021, I have been part of the team as Lead Computational Designer, responsible for developing all of the company's parametric product configurators. Through Movêu's website, customers can select a furniture type and fully personalize it in real time, choosing dimensions, door and drawer placement, materials, and material combinations. The 3D model updates live as each decision is made, giving customers complete authorship over their piece before a single component is manufactured.
I built a pipeline that goes far beyond visualization. After the customer finalizes their design, the 3D geometry I generate on the front end is fully translated into production code: every screw, edge banding specification, hardware fitting, and panel dimension is encoded and sent directly to the manufacturing partner. There, the code drives the production of the piece without any manual interpretation or redrafting. I built the configurators in Grasshopper and deployed them via ShapeDiver, enabling cloud-based access directly through Movêu's platform with no local software required for either the customer or the production team.
I also designed the furniture itself for tool-free assembly, built entirely on a joinery and interlocking system, no drills or screwdrivers required. From a fully personalized digital design to a finished piece delivered to the customer's door, the entire process is seamless, direct, and scalable.
