Acoustic design has a recurring problem: every space is different, but the tools used to specify and price custom ceiling systems rarely reflect that. I developed this configurator for FeltForm, a company specializing in organic felt baffle ceilings, allowing architects and contractors to fully define a ceiling system for any space and walk away with everything needed to produce it, without involving a modeler at any point in the process.
I built the geometry in Grasshopper, with baffle profiles deforming organically through attractor logic. I designed three distinct product lines, each with its own geometric rules, giving the user full control over zone dimensions, spacing, orientation, material colors, and assembly configurations.
What makes the tool production-ready rather than just visually compelling is the pipeline I built behind the 3D model. After the design is set, a nesting algorithm I developed runs automatically, calculates material usage, exports nesting files for the factory, generates technical drawings, and produces a cost estimate, all without leaving the configurator. I deployed the entire interface via ShapeDiver AppBuilder, delivering a complete, client-facing web application with no frontend development involved.
